Community Partnerships & Outreach

Fair Trade and sustainability have always been at the core of our values. In 2026, we pushed ourselves to answer the question: "how can we make Ethic Attic even more ethical?"

Our answer is with new outreach initiatives where we extend our partnerships further into our local Bangalore community and letting our patrons contribute directly to causes that they care about.

Our first partnership is with The Sheila Kothavala Institute For The Deaf (SKID) in neighboring Rustam Bagh.

This three-month fundraising campaign supports sports programming at SKID, a school serving hearing-impaired children in Bangalore. From January 1 to March 31, proceeds from Ethic Attic Collective's specially curated Cafe Charity Menu, along with sales of two featured Fair Trade products from the shop, will go toward providing training, equipment, and State and inter-State tournament and travel fees for children enrolled at the institute.

“These kids have got very good hand-eye coordination, so we thought, why not encourage them? One or two of them even went to the National level to represent India in volleyball. Who knows, maybe one day they can move up to the para-Olympic level,” said SKID President Ramesh Kauta. “Our trophy case is already full now, but we're looking for more! That's something that motivates them as well, because they've achieved it, and then they are proud of themselves. And these skills, this mindset that they have in terms of rising to challenges and winning, is something that's helping them to get jobs in their careers.”

The SKID Institute for the Deaf, part of the Deaf Aid Society, provides education, speech and language support, and life skills training for children with hearing impairments. Many students come from low-income households, and their teachers have found that stretching the body, as well as the mind, plays an essential role in supporting their wellbeing and ability to focus in class.

The school's motto is "they can if they think they can"- and we all absolutely think that they can! Contributions will help these kids not only have more well-rounded lives while they're in school, but give them the tools they need to thrive in the workplace when they graduate.
